Someone quite familiar to Alistair Overeem (36-11-1) has stepped forward with allegations that the Dutchman has used steroids for some time. Fabricio Werdum (16-5-1), who has fought Overeem twice, noticed the difference between their encounters."In 2006 when I fight with him, for sure he was on the juice again, the special juice," said Werdum to Cage Insider. "All the time he was on the special juice."
Werdum took home the victory in their first encounter for Pride in 2006. They would meet again in 2010 for Strikeforce where Overeem took the decision win.
Overeem remains suspended for having an elevated testosterone level in a random drug test, where he was nearly double the allowed limit. Both are expected to return inside the Octagon in 2013.
Werdum pointed the finger at how promotions work differently in other countries when it pertains to drug testing athletes.
"I know in Japan it isn't like in the USA, where you have a lot of control," said Werdum. "I like that, but in 2006 Japan and Pride had control but not like 100 percent. These guys have the tests, but not for the drugs."
