The 10 pound drop Frankie Edgar (14-3-1) must make in his new division doesn't have him worried. Prior to becoming a featherweight, Edgar spent his career as a lightweight and always found himself trying to put on pounds before fights."I don't think I have to diet for this fight either," said Edgar to The Post.
He meets José Aldo (21-1) at UFC 156 for the championship. The fight was originally set for October, but Aldo suffered an injury.
Edgar walks into the fight losing his last two as a lightweight and Aldo hasn't been defeated since 205.
Not having to focus on weight means Edgar can train longer.
"My conditioning is always there," said Edgar. "The week of the fight I like to be still training and worrying about the fight itself, not just the weight cut."
UFC 156 takes place February 2 from Las Vegas.
