Alistair Overeem, Golden Glory Settle Lawsuits
By Dana Becker | November 20, 2012
Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem has settled a lawsuit with Golden Glory. Rodrick Lindbolm, a lawyer for Golden Glory, released a statement Tuesday saying that all parties have settled and dismissed competing lawsuits filed in Nevada and California."Everyone worked extremely hard to resolve these matters so that Management/Promoter KOI/Golden Glory and Bas Boon can walk away and move forward with the Glory World Series Promotion in Europe, Japan and the USA," the statement read, "and Alistair Overeem can concentrate on his fighting career with his new manager Glen Robinson at Authentic Sports Management and his new team the Blackzilians."
Overeem split from Golden Glory after issues between Strikeforce and the team developed. He sued them in 2011, and KOI counter-used the very next month - just a day before Overeem defeated Brock Lesnar.
Overeem is currently suspended due to a failed pre-fight drug test, but is expected to return to action in 2013 at UFC 156: Aldo Vs. Edgar against Antonio Silva.
