Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate Sound Off On GSP

Recent remarks by Georges St-Pierre (23-2) where he said that he finds it difficult to watch women fight as sparked outrage amongst female MMA fighters. Miesha Tate (13-3) was the first to comment on the statement.

"I think the problem with GSP's view about WMMA is that he doesn't have one," said Tate to Mixed Martial Arts. "If he hasn't ever watched us women fight then he can't say how he really feels about it because he's ignorant."

Tate found someone who agreed with her, in bitter enemy Ronda Rousey (6-0). A tweet was sent out by Rousey who was shocked herself that the two saw eye to eye on something.

St-Pierre would go on to say that his reasoning was because he was old fashioned. Tate didn't believe the excuse.

"Being old fashioned is fine, but us "modern day" girls aren't asking for your protection, we are asking for your acceptance and we are fighting for equality," said Tate.

Earlier in the year, Rousey continued her undefeated streak when she defeated Tate to win the Strikeforce bantamweight championship. The UFC recently signed Rousey to a contract making her the first female to join their roster. She will be their inaugural bantamweight champion. Since Tate lost the title, she bounced back with a win over the summer.

Tate hopes that St-Pierre changes his vision of females in the UFC as she knows they will need support from others.

"I'm hoping George St-Pierre can open his mind a little bit and actually watch some women's fights," said Tate. "We're coming to the UFC for a reason and it would be nice to have one of my all-time favorite fighter's full support."
