Johny Hendricks (14-1) always imagined that one day he'd fight for the UFC. He just didn't know it would happen so quickly."I didn't think I would be in the UFC until I had 10 fights," said Hendricks to ESPN. "Instead, I had five."
In 2006, Hendricks walked into the UFC undefeated. He would rack up four more wins before losing via decision to Rick Story in late 2010. With his win over the weekend against Martin Kampmann (20-6), Hendricks' new winning streak has topped to five.
Of those last five fights, three have ended in the first round where Hendricks took home Knockout of the Night honors. The most recent example was with Kampmann in the co-main event of UFC 154. With that 46 second knockout, Hendricks looks now at a possible welterweight championship fight with Georges St-Pierre (23-2).
"God blessed me with a little power in my left hand," said Hendricks. "For some reason, I've really taken to the striking. I'm starting to believe more in my power and that's what's funny. I'm a wrestler and I haven't got to show my wrestling skills yet."
