UFC Hall of Famer Dan Severn (101-19-7) hasn't changed his mind about retirement and looks to end his career before the calendar year is up."I will be retired after this year," said Severn on MMA Weekly. "Not necessarily because I have to, but because I have so many other interests. I think if I could dedicate more time and do it, I could still fare well in this reality as a 54-year-old man, but there comes a point and time that it's a diminishing return."
It will be the end of a professional career that spanned 18 years. Severn has fought all over the country and throughout varies parts of the world. He continues to train aspiring fighters while keeping himself in fight shape. During his stay in the early days of the UFC, Severn won the fifth tournament and the now defunct superfight championship.
He won his last fight in April, ending a two fight losing streak in the process. Before that, he had won 11 in a row.
"I've had a very charmed career and I just think it's time to move on to other things," said Severn.
Before he can call it a career, Severn is hoping to fight Royce Gracie (14-2-3) or Tim Sylvia (31-7-1 NC). No future fights for Severn are known.
