UFC 154: Francis Carmont Vs. Tom Lawlor

Francis Carmont vs. Tom LawlorMiddleweights hit the Octagon, as Francis Carmont (19-7) takes on Tom Lawlor (8-4). For those that missed it, Lawlor performed a spot-on "Shockmaster" entrance during the weigh-ins on Friday, complete with mask and fall. The referee will be Philippe Chartier.
Round 1: Lawlor goes right into the huge body of Carmont, pushing him against the fence. Lawlor doing his best to keep Carmont against the fence here, not wanting to catch any of his strikes. Ref steps in and separates them, and Carmont stuffs a takedown attempt. Another takedown attempt by Lawlor, but Carmont moves for a kimura, but is unable to get it. Back to the center they go, and Carmont has his right locked and loaded. Lawlor slides in and goes low, landing a nice uppercut. Carmont goes for a takedown, but Lawlor jumps in and locks in a choke, going for the submission. Lawlor cranking, but Carmont gets out.

Round 2: Carmont lands a nice kick to start the action, while Lawlor wildly misses a combo. Still, that huge right is locked by Carmont, who unloads but misses. Big knee to the face of Lawlor, who regroups himself. Left connects by Carmont as they separate. Lawlor with a counter right. Lawlor gets the takedown with two minutes to go, but Carmont gets to his feet. Knee lands by Lawlor, as Carmont attempts a kimura to no avail. Lawlor slips by and takes Carmont to the mat, but it's Carmont attacking. Lawlor flips him up, grabs a hold of his head and is looking to lock in a choke.

Round 3: Lawlor picking Carmont apart with his striking. Carmont has defended several takedowns, but the ones Lawlor has connected on he has done some damage with. Carmont landing with his kicks, misses with a huge right. Lawlor lands with a right hook, as Carmont goes for a pair of uppercuts. Under a minute, and this has been a slow round for action as both men seem fatigued. Lawlor has controlled the round with his offense, avoiding any serious damage by Carmont. Trip-takedown by Carmont doesn't score at the end.
