UFC 154: Mark Bocek Vs. Rafael Dos Anjos

Mark Bocek vs. Rafael dos AnjosWe enter the lightweight ranks with another Canadian, Mark Bocek (11-4) taking on Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos (17-6). Yves Lavigne will be the third man inside the Octagon.
Round 1: Big knee by Bocek connects in the early stages. So far, dos Anjos has been using his kicks, while Bocek seems like he wants to take this fight to the ground. Bocek drops down for a takedown but dos Anjos fights it off. Knees by dos Anjos connect to the body of Bocek. Flying knee attempt by dos Anjos fails to connect. A minute to go in this opening round and either fighter could take it with a solid finish. Kick connects by dos Anjos, but Bocek grabs the leg and goes for a takedown. Bocek has dos Anjos pinned against the fence, working a single-leg, but is unable to get it. Nice kick to the face by dos Anjos.

Round 2: Bocek catches dos Anjos with an accidental low blow that nearly floors the Brazilian. Upon replay, a straight kick below the belt landed, but dos Anjos is ready to go just seconds later. Stiff jab lands by dos Anjos, who continues moving and bouncing around the cage. Bocek fires in for the takedown, and the two wind up in what looks like a stalemate situation. However, dos Anjos is able to reverse things and get the takedown himself, with Bocek positioned awkwardly against the fence. Almost an armbar attempt by dos Anjos, but Bocek is able to avoid it. Blood coming from the nose of Bocek as dos Anjos gives up on the ground and they stand. Two minutes left, and Bocek looks winded, while dos Anjos continues to bounce around. The Brazilian goes to work on the mat, takes the back of Bocek and unloads with a big right, followed by several more uncontested blows. Excellent showing by dos Anjos, who is looking to secure the back of Bocek. A fourth takedown for dos Anjos, who lands a huge elbow as the round comes to an end.

Round 3: After 10 minutes of intense action, dos Anjos looks like he maybe just went out for a short jog, showing no signs of fatigue at all. Dos Anjos has doubled-up Bocek in terms of significant strikes. Huge takedown by dos Anjos, who is looking for a kimura with three minutes to go. Bocek gets up and goes for a kimura of his own, but dos Anjos quickly slips out. Swelling forming around left eye of Bocek, who is still coming after dos Anjos. Nice kick to the body by dos Anjos, who fires off a front-kick that lands, as well. Spinning kick by dos Anjos, who looks like he is just having fun inside the Octagon.
