UFC 154: Steven Siler Vs. Darren Elkins

Steven Siler vs. Darren ElkinsWelcome to our live coverage of tonight's card. We begin in the featherweight division with Steven Siler (21-9) squaring off with Darren Elkins (14-2). Marc-Andre Cote will be the referee for this first bout.
Round 1: Missed some of the early action due to the Facebook player, but we'll pick things up here late in the first. Elkins on top, landing some solid strikes. Elkins grinding on Siler, who is attempting a triangle as we go unde ra minute. Elkins grabs the neck, pulling tight, looking for a guillotine, but Siler is able to avoid it for now. Elkins still clinching it in, but unable to secure the choke.

Round 2: Elkins grabs his third takedown of the match right off the bat. Siler connects with an up-kick, and forces Elkins to go to the ground and land some nice strikes. Elkins quickly moves to the back, secures a choke and a body-triangle on Siler as we approach the three-minute mark. Siler rolling, Elkins mounted still on his back and Siler to his knees. Elkins still has the body-lock cinched in and some blood begins pouring out of the nose of Siler. Elkins in complete control, but Siler gives a thumbs-up to the ref as Elkins squeezes the rear-naked. Siler fighting off the choke with great defense, but he has done no damage with his own offense this round. Siler will survive this round, but is behind on the scorecards.

Round 3: Great cornering for Siler, as they tell him he needs the KO to win this fight. Elkins with 8-plus minutes of ground control through two rounds. Elkins catches Siler coming in with a solid right, as Siler answers with a jab. Combo by Elkins lands, causing Siler to back up. Siler steps in and catches a straight jab. Knee attempt by Siler, but it allows Elkins to grab a leg and get his fourth successful takedown in as many attempts. Siler gets to his feet as we approach the three-minute mark. Siler with a knee to the chin of Elkins as they break. Another solid combo lands by Elkins, as does an overhand right. A fifth takedown from Elkins, and he goes into control on the ground. Complete performance by Elkins so far. Elkins passes guard, as Siler goes for a triangle choke. Siler fires up, but Elkins gets a sixth takedown as we go under a minute.
