Done wrestling and on the finals of earning his degree at the University of Buffalo, Dez Green (5-0) received a call from a friend if he was looking to fight again. Green had retired from fighting after failing several drug tests for marijuana."I said, 'Sure, I want it,'" said Green to MMA Junkie. "I won in the first round, and I had never had any training. Right after people were asking where I trained or what gym I was with, and I didn't have one."
He has since joined Team BombSquad and returns to compete against Brandon Fleming (2-1) for New England Fights (NEF). It will be Green's second appearance for the company and Fleming's debut.
Green hopes to join the roster of a larger MMA organization if he wins this upcoming fight. If his next win doesn't lead to bigger shows, Green will keep training until he reaches a grander stage.
"If I keep doing well, after this fight, it could be the call I've been waiting for," said Green. "I just have to be as committed as I can. I think I need to get my wins up, and I want to keep moving up," he said. "So that starts this weekend."
The next NEF show takes place today, November 17, from the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Maine. Paul Gorman (8-8) takes on Adam Toussaint in the main event.
