Dana White Not Sure If There’s Room For Cyborg

Now that Dana White has officially confirmed that Ronda Rousey (6-0) has been the first female MMA fighter to sign a UFC contract, many wondered if Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (12-1-1) would be the first to challenge for the UFC's newly created women's bantamweight championship.

Cyborg currently remains suspended until early January after testing positive for steroids. Earlier in the week she said that her doctor informed her it was too dangerous to make the drop down to bantamweight. She currently fights one class above at featherweight.

With this recent news, White is uncertain about Cyborg's future as he planned to have one women's division.

"It's become abundantly clear to me that Cyborg does not want to fight her [Rousey]," said White on Fuel TV. "I always said that the [featherweight] division of women was not deep enough to be created. I think the division in which Ronda is the champion has four to five good fights for her for next year."

Since Zuffa is the parent company for the UFC and Strikeforce, it means they control all the fighters' contracts. When Strikeforce ceases operations in January, select female fighters are expected be absorbed into the UFC's roster.

"The division is now deep enough to work for a few years and then we'll see what happens," said White. "I'll take a chance, we will try. Ronda Rousey will be a big star. I think she's incredibly talented, she's thick skin, she is a real fighter, so we'll see how things happen and how strong women's MMA."
