Tachi Palace Fights (TPF) is open to the idea of introducing a 115 pound division to the current roster. TPF matchmaker Richard Goodman is ready create a new weight class, but worries that he might need to bring competition in from overseas."I really do think it's possible," said Goodman to Sherdog Radio. "There's a lot of good fighters out there at 125 that actually fight at 115 in Japan. The only problem with that is I'm going to have to import so many individuals to focus on that weight class, which we can do, but then I'm taking away from the local opportunities as well."
TPF runs their shows out of Lemoore, California since inception in 2009. They currently hold fights in the middleweight, welterweight, lightweight, featherweight, bantamweight and flyweight divisions. Due to fighters leaving the organization to sign with upper level companies, only three titles have a name attached to them.
If TPF decides to introduce a new weight class, Goodman is ready to start in the New Year and has mentally booked the route to the championship.
"If I could put a little four man tournament together in that sense, I would definitely consider that as an option for 2013, but we'll see how far that weight class can go," said Goodman.
Some notable names to come out of TPF include the UFC's Michael McDonald (15-1) and Ian McCall (11-3-1).
TPF returns later today, November 15 from the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in California. Sherdog will stream the fight.
