Chris Weidman Thinks Anderson Silva Might Be Ducking Him

Chris Weidman (9-0) was ringside as Anderson Silva (33-4) continued his dominance with a first round victory at UFC 153, but feels the current middleweight champion might be dodging him.

"I just feel like some way or another, Anderson Silva is not fighting me," said Weidman to MMA Junkie. "I honestly don't feel like it's going to happen."

Weidman is yet to be stopped in his MMA career and holds a five fight win streak for the UFC since he joined them in 2009. After defeating Mark Muñoz (12-3) in the second round in July, Weidman felt he belonged in the title picture as that same month Silva defeated Chael Sonnen (27-12-1) within two rounds.

"I thought it was the perfect opportunity after the Munoz fight," said Weidman. "The UFC was asking him to fight me, non-stop, and he put them off and put them off and put them off and then said he doesn't want to fight until 2013."

Silva returned to action as a last minute replacement for the main event of UFC 153. He competed in a nontitle fight. Weidman returns to the Octagon at UFC 155 against Tim Boetsch (16-4) in the final show of the year.

"I'm just focused on Tim Boetsch on December 29, and whatever Anderson Silva is going to do, he's going to do," said Weidman. "I just hope the stars align and he accepts the fight when the time comes."
