Phil Davis Back On Track After Win Over Wagner Prado
By Dana Becker | October 14, 2012
Just like he did to current top contender Alexander Gustafsson, Phil Davis locked in an anaconda choke and submitted Wagner Prado. The two met in a rematch at UFC 153: Silva vs. Bonnar Saturday night.Earlier this year, Davis landed an accidental eye poke to Prado, who was unable to continue. The fight was declared a no-contest, and the rematch was scheduled for Brazil.
Davis used his NCAA-level wrestling to control Prado, taking him down at will. He locked in the choke and scored another submission, rebounding from his first career loss to Rashad Evans.
"I controlled the range. I took minimal damage on my feet," said Davis, on the post-fight show on Fuel TV. "There's no pressure if you go in there and know what you have to do."
Davis said that it was difficult getting the choke locked in on Prado because of his upper-body size, adding, "I had to give him a big squeeze. He's tough and a big guy."
