UFC 153: Glover Teixeira Vs. Fabio Maldonado

Glover Teixeira vs. Fabio MaldonadoBack to the light heavyweight ranks, as Brazilians Glover Teixeira (18-2) and Fabio Maldonado (18-5) enter the Octagon. The referee will be Mario Yamasaki.
Round 1: Teixeira takes control right away, unleashing a huge left. Teixeira drops Maldonado, mounts him and is in a strong position 30 seconds into the fight. Elbow by Teixeira, as Maldonado is going to need to do something to get out of his position quickly. Maldonado attempting a hip escape, but is eating some nasty elbows as he does. Nine straight rights to the face of Maldonado by Teixeira, and none of them were blocked at all. Pair of big elbows, followed by rapid elbows to the face of Maldonado. No idea how Maldonado is still awake from this. Teixeira goes for the arm triangle, but Maldonado gets out of it, proving Joe Rogan wrong again. Rogan said numerous times this one was over when the submission was locked in. Teixeira, though, is back to the mount and reigning down lefts and rights as blood pours from the face of Maldonado. Deep elbows across the face of Maldonado, who slips out and gets to his feet. He appears wobbly, though, but lands a left hook to Teixeira. Teixeira teeing off, pushing Maldonado up against the fence to hit him with more lefts and rights. Maldonado answers with two huge shots, as both men are wobbly and the round comes to an end.

Round 2: Teixeira with a takedown right off the bat, but Maldonado avoids any serious damage and gets to his feet. Body shot by Maldonado. Teixeira with a double-leg takedown, takes the back, but Maldonado rolls to his own back. Teixeira reigning down serious elbows, breaking the face of Maldonado open again. Maldonado's face is looking horrendous, and the ref stands them up. The Octagon-side doctor has come in, but Maldonado is saying he is fine and wants to continue on. They make sure he can see out of both eyes and we are back on. Under a minute to go in the round. Pair of left hooks land by Maldonado, as Teixeira comes in with a pair of rights. Big left by Teixeira connects.

Round 3: Instead we have no third round, as the doctor has stepped in and called the fight. This one is over, despite Maldonado objecting to the decision.
