UFC 153: Rony Jason Vs. Sam Sicilia

Our final prelim card of the night features TUF: Brazil winner Rony Jason (12-3) going up against Sam Sicilia (11-1) in the featherweight ranks. The referee will be Fernando Yamasaki.

Round 1: Pair of TUF veterans ready to do battle. Spinning head kick misses as Sicilia ducks. Sicilia comes in but gets rocked by a Jason strike. Somehow, Sicilia is able to keep his balance and remain on his feet, firing back with everything he has at Jason. Jason with another heavy strike, but Sicilia takes him to the ground and fires off several rights. Jason has the right arm tied up, but Sicilia able to get it free. Sicilia with a pair of rights square to the chin and comes back in with more rights before joining him on the ground. Sicilia doing a nice job of staying in control, but Jason grabs an arm and goes for an armbar. Sicilia avoids the submission and is back on top. The ref stands them up as Sicilia is landing punches to Jason's head. Jason counters a missed uppercut with a quick right. Sicilia blocks a kick and fires off one of his own. Left hook catches Sicilia, as does another by Jason. Sicilia fires back and quickly gets back into his stance. Strong finish by Jason, as he unleashes a flurry of strikes and kicks.

FightLine scores the round 10-9 for Jason

Round 2: Sicilia a little more cautious of Jason's power this round, not just firing off punches when he comes in. Nice combo by Sicilia connects. Sicilia has a short little stutter-step when he throws strikes, but Jason seems to have it timed nicely. Quick right lands by Sicilia. Body shot by Jason, as he counters with a big knee and starts teeing off. Sicilia, however, answers and sends Jason back. Jason ducks and avoids a big left-right combo by Sicilia, smiles, and gives a touch of gloves. One minute left and Jason with a left that connects. Straight right by Sicilia, but Jason lands his own and it drops Sicilia. Jason with several hammerfists and the ref steps in. It didn't appear as though Jason was doing a lot of damage, but from Sicilia's reaction after, it looked out.
