UFC 153: Gleison Tibau Vs. Francisco Trinaldo

Gleison Tibau vs. Francisco TrinaldoOur second all-Brazilian bout is next, as lightweights Gleison Tibau (34-8) and Francisco Trinaldo (11-1) enter the Octagon. The referee will be Marc Goddard.
Round 1: Lot of feeling out early, but Tibau shoots and gets the takedown. After Trinaldo stands up, Tibau locks in a guillotine, squeezing tight and pulling gurd. Tibau has full guard, but Trinaldo stands and powers out, breaking the hold. Nice work by Trinaldo to not get flustered and get out of the submission. Tibau catche a kick and lands a stiff jab, following up by taking Trinaldo to the canvas and landing some nice punches to the face. Body shot by Trinaldo, who is throwing some wild strikes right now - and not landing many. Knee to the body by Trinaldo, but Tibau answers with a right. Tibau with a power takedown and into full guard.

Round 2: Trinaldo snaps off a quick right, and throws a huge overhand left. Trinaldo lands a huge overhand left that drops Tibau to the ground as his eyes roll back in his head. Trinaldo locks in a rear-naked choke, but Tibau is fighting it off. The sound of Trinaldo's right that connected was deafening, as Tibau just collapsed to the mat. Trinaldo gives up the back and goes to an arm-triangle choke as Tibau pops out. Trinaldo now going to ground-and-pound with just over two minutes to go. Trinaldo needs to make sure he doesn't punch himself out right now, as he is throwing his weight into every strike - trying to finish Tibau. A left sneaks past the arms of Tibau, as Trinaldo is back in half-guard. Tibau will survive the round.

Round 3: Trinaldo throwing more big strikes, but Tibau lands a body shot that pushes Trinaldo up against the fence. Tibau landing everything he throws, and gets the takedown and into mount. Tibau making sure to take his time, be patient and land everything he throws in this strong position. Tibau passes, controlling the head and arm of Trinaldo with three to go. The ref stands them up even though it appears Tibau was still advancing. So, Tibau goes right back to the takedown. Mount by Tibau, as he looks for an arm triangle with 1:20 to go. Trinaldo gives a thumbs-up saying he is fine, and the ref checks to make sure he is still breathing by touching his arm. Trinaldo gets out of the choke attempt, but Tibau is still on top, in control, landing some quick lefts and rights.
