UFC 153: Sergio Moraes Vs. Renee Forte

Sergio Moraes vs. Renee ForteWe begin the FX-televised prelim card with welterweights Sergio Moraes (6-3) and Renee Forte (7-1). The referee will be Mario Yamasaki for this battle of former Ultimate Fighter: Brazil competitors.
Round 1: Moraes catches Forte and takes him to the mat. Forte fights to get back to his feet, but Moraes still has him in control against the fence. Moraes attempts another takedown, and gets Forte to the mat with his technique this time. Forte slips out, attempts a quick submission then re-arranges himself and lands a kick to the body of Moraes. The ref stands Moraes up with 90 seconds to go in the round. Moraes attempts a front-kick that is partially blocked by Forte.

Round 2: Moraes tries to slip an elbow in off a strike, but is unable to. Moraes goes for a single-leg, switches to the double and takes Forte to the canvas. Moraes unable to lock in a choke and Forte is out. Uppercut by Forte misses. Ref breaks them and brings the fighters to the center after a stall. Under a minute to go in a rather lackluster round between these two. Forte lands an uppercut with 30 seconds to go and another strike that drops Moraes to the canvas, but he's unable to execute any ground-and-pound and the round ends.

Round 3: Moraes throws some wild strikes as Forte comes in a little too close. None of them do any damage, however. Forte now throwing everything he has, but that allows Moraes to take him down and take his back. Moraes gets a body lock in as Forte tries to stand and shake him off. Moraes has his legs locked around midsection of Forte, working for a rear-naked choke. Just over two minutes to go as Forte is still standing with Moraes on his back. Moraes is unable to get the arm under the chin, cranking his head instead. Moraes holds on as Forte drops, locking the choke in.
