After an injury sustained from a motorcycle accident forced José Aldo (21-1) out of the UFC 153 main event, the featherweight champion anticipates that he will be back within the next three months."I hope to be back by the end of the year, or by January at the latest," said Aldo on MMA Junkie. "I feel fine except for some pain in my ankles. I just need medical clearance to get back to full training."
Aldo was originally slated to fight Erik Koch (13-1) before he was injured and had to drop out from the card. His replacement was Frankie Edgar (14-3-1), who would have been making his featherweight debut. When Aldo was forced to pull from the card due to his injury, Edgar was removed too.
When Aldo returns, he expects Edgar to get the first shot at his championship.
"The UFC will tell me who I'll be facing, but I think it's Frankie Edgar," said Aldo.
