Glover Teixeira Ready To Bring Excitement To The Octagon
By Dana Becker | October 11, 2012
Glover Teixeira wasted no time making a statement in his UFC debut. Saturday night, the Brazilian wants to do the same against Fabio Maldonado at UFC 153: Silva vs. Bonnar.Teixeira was originally scheduled to face former UFC champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, but an injury knocked Jackson out. In his place stepped Maldonado for the main card contest.
"I've wanted to be in the UFC for so long, and now that I am here, it is like living a dream," Teixeira said. "I learned from Chuck Liddell that it is important to be an exciting fighter, to go for the finish and that it is important for you to go out and excite the crowd."
The 32-year-old Teixeira was forced to wait several years due to visa issues before making his UFC debut vs. Kyle Kingsbury earlier this year. He submitted Kingsbury in under two minutes, earning his 18th career victory.
"Maldonado is a good fighter and will bring the fight to me," Teixeira said. "But I will knock him out, knockout of the night maybe."
