Dana White saw that it was morally right to pay Dennis Hallman (51-14-2- 1 NC) despite not making his scheduled appearance at UFC on FX 5. He came in seven pounds over the limit and his opponent Thiago Tavares Dennis (17-4-1) said if he came in three pound, he would take the fight. Hallman wasn't able and subsequently released. Both men were paid."I'm a human being, and I feel for the guy," said White to MMA Junkie. "He's got a lot of personal problems that he needs to handle. I hope that the show and win money that I gave him helps him and his family to fix whatever needs to be fixed and the guy doesn't lose everything."
Hallman was paid his $60,000 purse. It marked the second time in a row he missed weight.
"Personally, business-wise, it was the stupidest f*cking thing in the world to do," said White. "As a human being, it was what I wanted to do."
White stands by his decision that the release was needed and thinks Hallman may retire.
"I don't want to say anything about Dennis Hallman's life and personal problems right now, but he was in no shape whatsoever, mentally or physically, to fight," White said. "I should be hung from a tree by my f*cking ears and beat with a stick if I try to put this guy out there to fight."
