Jon Jones, Vitor Belfort Discuss Religion Ahead Of UFC 152 Meeting
By Dana Becker | September 11, 2012
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and his next contender, Vitor Belfort, displayed a different kind of respect then we've seen from many other MMA fighters. Both discussed during a conference call for UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort Tuesday the impact religion has had on them.Jones, who has dealt with several non-Octagon related issues over the past year, explained his relationship with Christianity by saying, "If I didn't have Christ in my life, I'd be a hot mess."
Belfort, the veteran of the two and a former UFC champion, said, "I love to hear a Christian fella understand the real vision of Christianity. Me and Jones, we are fighters. I have such respect for a man like him."
The two were not on the same path to collide until the UFC was turned down by several fighters to face Jones. Belfort called up and offered to take the fight. "The Phenom" said he hasn't decided what he will do - win or lose - after the fight, adding "I am going to go there to compete, to win, to compete at a high level; that's it."
