Bibiano Fernandes Not Fighting At 'UFC 149' Because He Never Signed Contract
By Dana Becker | June 12, 2012
Bibiano Fernandes was slated to debut in the UFC at UFC 149 next month against Roland Delorme. Now, according to Fernandes' Facebook page, he explained why he will not be fighting inside the Octagon.
"I would like to make it clear that I am not a UFC athlete as I did not sign any contract with the UFC organization," Fernandes wrote. "Negotiations between the UFC and myself did take place. However, we could not resolve the issues on the table and as a result we did not come to an agreement."
Fernandes (11-3) has the DREAM bantamweight championship belt to his credit right now, and sources informed MMAFighting.com that ONE FC has made him an offer. Delorme, the UFC announced when making Fernandes' exit official, will remain on the card.
