Demetrious Johnson revealed during a recent interview with TapouT Radio that the UFC was going to use a sudden victory round if need be for the upcoming flyweight tournament. Johnson will face Ian McCall at UFC On FX 2 in one semi, while Joseph Benavidez and Yasuhiro Urus--tani meet in the other.

Johnson was asked if Benavidez-Urus--tani would have the sudden victory round as well, but told the network he was unsure if they signed the same contract that he did.

"I don't know if anybody has said anything about it, and this is the first time I'm mentioning it, is that we (McCall and myself) had to sign for a 'sudden death' bout. If it goes to three rounds, and the judges can't decide who the winner is, then we'll do a fourth round," Johnson said (thanks to Crooklyn's Corner for transcribing). "I'm assuming that it's for me and Ian McCall. I can't say if it's going to be for Joseph and Yasuhiro, because I'm not gonna say that the UFC made those guys sign, too."

It is likely that the UFC did have all four fighters sign for a sudden victory format, which has been used on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter in the past.

UFC on FX 2 takes place March 3 from Australia. The main event boasts Thiago Alves against Martin Kampmann.
