UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz will put his title on the line for fourth time this summer and for the second time against rival Urijah Faber.Cruz and Faber will coach The Ultimate Fighter 15 opposite one another and will fight upon the show's conclusion this July; the bout will be a rubber match. Their first meeting was contested in 2007, when Cruz challenged Faber for his WEC featherweight belt, and resulted in Cruz's only professional loss when he was choked out in the first round. They fought again last summer, this time over Cruz's title, with The Dominator taking a close decision over The California Kid.
To Cruz, that fight clearly demonstrated the fact that Faber isn't quite sure how to properly deal with his frenetic style and proved that his rival is at a loss these days when it comes to figuring out how exactly to defeat him.
"I'll always fight him better than he'll fight me," Cruz said of Faber during a recent episode of HDNet's Inside MMA. "As much as he wants to talk about being the more dangerous fighter, this and that, the dude was on his heels the entire fight and he didn't want to come forward. He was countering the whole time because he didn't know when I was gonna come or go. So, there's a style that he doesn't understand, the way that I fight him, that he chooses to say negative things about it, because he can't understand it. What you don't understand, you choose to talk bad about.
"He's not gonna beat me, he doesn't know how. I'm gonna go in there and have my way with him just like I did the last fight. Keep the pace high, put him on his butt and beat him down."
Cruz and Faber are slated to do battle in the main event of UFC 148, which is likely to take place on July 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
