Diego Sanchez Fine With Fighting Teammate Carlos Condit For Title

Diego Sanchez, while appearing on The MMA Hour recently, gave his opinion on a possible fight with teammate and current interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit. Sanchez and Condit both train at Jackson-Winklejohn MMA in New Mexico.

"We've all talked about this, the coaches, me and Carlos, we are absolutely fine fighting each other," said Sanchez (thanks to MMAMania.com for transcribing). "We both want UFC gold, that's what we want for our family and have always wanted even as little kids, we have always wanted this. We are willing to do that."

Sanchez, who has a bout with Jake Ellenberger set for February 15 in the main event of UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger, is likely a few more wins away from contending for the title. Condit claimed the interim crown with his victory over Nick Diaz at UFC 143, and will likely wait to face Georges St-Pierre later this year to unify the crown.

"If we have to fight each other we will fight each other," Sanchez said. "Me and Carlos would be a war; we both know our strengths and weaknesses and it would be a great fight. If it happens, it happens."
