Koscheck And Pierce Not Worried About Being Overshadowed In Media, Each Just Looking To Fight
By Mark Wayne | February 03, 2012
With the welterweight trio of Georges St-Pierre, Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit dominating media coverage of tomorrow night's UFC 143 fight card, you might think that 170-pounders Josh Koscheck and Mike Pierce -- who will be fighting on the main card -- would feel slighted by the lack of attention. Such is not the case, however, as both Koscheck and Pierce maintain that their current focus is on fighting the other, not on how they're being treated by the media.
"I don't think I'm overlooked," said Koscheck. "You know, I've proven it before. Just gotta win fights and work my way back up there. So, as of right now, I'm fighting Mike Pierce Saturday and that's all I'm focused on. I don't pay too much attention to the media and what you guys are doing around the internet and all that. I'm pretty focused right now. I'm just worried about winning right now."
Pierce echoed his sentiment.
"To second what Josh said, I'm not really focused on what's going with those three," he said. "I've got Josh Koscheck on Saturday and that's really the only thing that's on my mind and I'm just looking forward to getting in there on Saturday."
Koscheck and Pierce will meet at UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit, which goes down tomorrow night from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. FightLine will be back tomorrow with our live, ongoing coverage of the event.
