Dan Henderson Will Sit And Wait For UFC Title Shot

Dan Henderson is in a position where he can afford to sit and wait for a title opportunity to present itself. And, after his thrilling war with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in late 2011, that is exactly what the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion is going to do.

"Dan Henderson's in a position right now where it looks like he wants to wait for Jon Jones," said White, during a press conference for UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit Thursday (thanks to MMAjunkie.com). "We'll see what happens with this Rashad [Evans] fight."

Henderson could have vaulted into the No. 1 spot in the 205-pound division had Rashad Evans lost or suffered a serious injury in his recent fight with Phil Davis. Instead, "Suga" came out victorious, setting up a match with Jones at UFC 145 later this year.

"Hendo" is 29-8 in his career and 5-2 in the UFC. Both his Octagon losses have come in title fights, as Anderson Silva and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson defeated him 2007 and 2008 in bouts to unify the UFC and PRIDE titles.
