UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes will be remembered for his dominant run as UFC welterweight champion regardless if he ever fights again or not. Still, the itch to compete inside the Octagon remains for Hughes."I'm just hoping I can fight next," said Hughes, during an interview Saturday night on FUEL TV (thanks to MMAFighting.com for transcribing). "We'll see what happens. I'm not scouting anybody out. I'm just hoping the opportunity is here for me now.
Hughes, who went 19-1 during one stretch of his career, is just 3-4 in his last seven fights. His last Octagon appearance ended in a knockout loss at the hands of Josh Koscheck.
"I think Dana (White) could be the final decision maker," Hughes said. "My wife's a great lady, but she's not going to tell me when Matt Hughes retires."
