UFC On Fox 2: Chael Sonnen Vs. Michael Bisping

Referee Big John McCarthy will oversee this middleweight contendership bout.

Round 1: Sonnen comes out of the gates hot as usual, getting the takedown in short order. Bisping pops to his feet in short order and tags Sonnen with a one-two after getting poked in the eye. Sonnen closes the distances and presses Bisping into the fence, looking for the takedown. Bisping shakes him off and lands a one-two. Bisping doing well so far with Sonnen's relentless onslaught, but Sonnen fights him to the ground again. Sonnen lands three lefts to a grounded Bisping. Bisping gets to his feet again and turns Sonnen into the fence, dropping for a takedown that Sonnen defends. Bisping breaks away and lands a pair of shots before Sonnen closes the distance again and presses him into the fence. Bisping turns Sonnen again. Sonnen whiffs on a right after Bisping lets him off the cage. Bisping defends another takedown and turns Sonnen into the cage again, working knees. Bisping landing some nice straight shots down the pipe that seem to be surprising Sonnen, who misses most of his counters. Bisping getting loose with his strikes as the round closes.

Round 2: Bisping keeping Sonnen a bit more conservative with his entry. Sonnen closes the distance but Bisping gets underhooks and turns him, showing stout takedown defense and really impressive clinch work. Sonnen's back is against the fence and he's working short, chopping shots as Bisping pressures him. Big John breaks them and they go back to work on their feet, Bisping landing the cleaner shots. Sonnen finally hits a takedown and has Bisping down against the fence. Bisping defending well so far. Someone's bleeding. Sonnen with a hard right, but it gives Bisping space to stand. Bisping and Sonnen both digging in and trading, Bisping getting the better of it before pressing Sonnen into the cage and working dirty boxing. Bisping works for the takedown but Sonnen defends. Bisping working nice elbows and knees while Sonnen returns with arm punches. Sonnen quite looking like the man who took Silva the distance and it looks like Bisping smells blood.

Round 3: Sonnen lands a straight left and hits a mean power double to plant Bisping against the cage. Bisping is busy immediately, looking to get back to his feet. Bisping defending well, moving his hips nicely, keeping Sonnen off-balance. Bisping threatens with a leg lock as Sonnen stands. Sonnen backs out. They scramble and Sonnen looks to take Bisping's back as he stands. He does it and gets both hooks in. Bisping keeping his cool, but Sonnen mounts. 2:20 left. Bisping controlling posture for the most part, Sonnen only landing peppering shots. Sonnen making space, but Bisping regains half guard. Sonnen looking for the arm triangle. Bisping establishes full guard. Bisping scooting back and getting to his feet. Sonnen staying on him. Thirty to go. Bisping gets to his feet and turns Sonnen, taking him down in short order and landing a few mean elbows before the bell.
