UFC Places Chris Weidman In Bout With Demian Maia At 'UFC On FOX 2' Chris Weidman has been tabbed to replace Michael Bisping for a bout with Demian Maia at UFC on FOX 2, UFC president Dana White announced on Tuesday. Bisping was moved into a fight with Chael Sonnen after Mark Munoz - Sonnen's original opponent - was pulled with an injury.

UFC on FOX 2 takes place January 28 from Chicago's United Center. In the main event, Rashad Evans takes on Phil Davis. The Sonnen-Bisping match will be to decide the No. 1 contender to UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, while Evans will secure a shot at UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones with a victory.

Weidman last earned a victory in November, submitting Tom Lawlor to remain undefeated in his career and improve to 3-0 in the UFC. The Serra-Longo trained fighter is a former two-time NCAA Div. I All-American wrestler while competing at Hofstra.

Maia has won three of his last four since a loss to Silva for the UFC title in 2010. He most recently topped Jorge Santiago at UFC 136.

The Weidman-Maia bout is still slated for the FOX-televised show, giving both fighters a great chance to improve their standing in the division.
