Muhammed 'King Mo' Lawal Tests Positive For Steroids

Strikeforce light heavyweight contender Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal has become the latest fighter to turn in a positive steroid test.

Lawal registered positive for the anabolic steroid Drostanalone following his January 7 victory over Lorenz Larkin. Drostanalone is a steroid popular in bodybuilding, used to maintain stamina during weight cutting.

Lawal issued the following statement, maintaining his innocence, via ESPN:

"I'm very surprised about this. I am very careful about what I put into my body. I've never tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug. I've gone through, and still welcome, Olympic-style testing. I will do whatever is necessary to get to the bottom of this. I'm not a cheater. I might cheat at video games, but I never cheat at fighting."

Lawal took on Larkin at Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine on January 7 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fifteen other fighters that competed on the card were tested and passed.

Former Strikeforce women's featherweight champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos tested positive for anabolic steroids following her December title defense over Hiroko Yamanaka.
