UFC President Dana White Believes Brock Lesnar's Retirement Is For Real

UFC president Dana White has seemingly always been one person that knows what is going through the mind of Brock Lesnar. White, however, was just as surprised as everyone else when the former UFC heavyweight champion announced his retirement following a loss to Alistair Overeem last month. Many doubt Lesnar's statements, but not White, who talked about the former WWE superstar while appearing on a recent episode of the Jim Rome Show.

"I think Brock's done," White said (thanks to MMAWeekly.com for transcribing). "The conversations I've had with Brock Lesnar since that fight, all indications point to it's over. This isn't baseball man, half-in, half-out; you can go out and party the night before and then play a game. These guys have to be 100 percent into this mentally, physically, emotionally."

Lesnar battled back twice from bouts of diverticulitis, which nearly ended both his career and life. He had told his family that prior to the Overeem fight, if he lost, he would announce his retirement. Lesnar also said that even if he defeated "The Reem," he planned on finishing his career following a bout with UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.

White went on to say that Lesnar told him he was in the best shape of his life heading into the Overeem fight, but said, "That guy is just that much better than me and it's time for me to retire."
