Having already held a show on Fox ahead of the actual start date for their deal, planned a second and set up two more events for both FX and FUEL, the UFC is making the most of their deal with Fox networks. It was revealed today by MMAJunkie that a long-rumored match up between welterweight standouts Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez has been set up for the main event of a UFC event scheduled for Wednesday, February 15. The event is likely to take place at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska, but the location of the event has not yet been confirmed. It is also believed that the event will air live on FUEL TV, one of Fox's subsidiary networks.
The bout between Ellenberger and Sanchez promises fireworks and possibly a title shot for the winner, though it's more likely that the surging Ellenberger would be awarded the shot in victory than Sanchez.
MMAJunkie also reports that a middleweight match up between Jorge Rivera and Eric Schafer has been agreed to for the UFC's first live event on FX, UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller. Rivera will be looking to rebound from a hard-to-swallow TKO loss to rival Michael Bisping that he suffered this past August, while Schafer will attempt to bounce back from a decision loss to Aaron Simpson that dates back to October.
UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller is scheduled to take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee this January 20.
