Gray Maynard has high hopes for a fourth match with UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. That's why "The Bully" is pulling for Edgar to defend his crown successfully until the two can meet against inside the Octagon.Edgar's next title defense will come at UFC 144 in February against Benson Henderson. While Maynard doesn't have an opponent planned in the immediate future, he knows whoever the UFC places in front of him will be difficult.
"It's the best in the world (the UFC 155-pound division). It means it's a lot of fun," said Maynard, in a recent interview with Tatame.com. "For me, I like the top of the world. I like to go up against the best in the world."
Maynard, whose lone career loss is to Edgar via knockout from their third match earlier this year, is looking at finding a new home to train after leaving Xtreme Couture. Yet, it mind remains on one thing: Edgar.
"Hopefully, he holds on to the belt, because there's got to be a part four, I think, to make it a true trilogy," Maynard said. "Now he has one (win) and I do too, so that's a draw. So, we gotta do it again. Hopefully, he holds on to the belt and I can work back up there."
