Josh Koscheck is one of the top welterweights in the UFC, but he won't be fighting for the title at 170lbs. anytime soon, having already bean beaten twice by current champ Georges St-Pierre. Koscheck knows that and he's currently content getting paid to knock off other would-be contenders - like Carlos Condit, whom he faces at UFC 143 next February - but he still wouldn't mind seeing the title change hands in the upcoming GSP-Nick Diaz battle, a scenario which could open the door to another title shot for the 33-year-old.Koscheck was asked by a fan at the UFC Fight Club Q&A session held prior to UFC 139 last weekend (props to MMAHeat for the video) who he's picking to win the championship battle between St-Pierre and Diaz; while he admitted that he sees GSP winning the fight, he couldn't hide his excitement at the prospect of facing the pride of Stockton for the title should he beat St-Pierre.
"To be honest with you, I like the Diaz kid. I think that he brings something similar to what I bring to the table: he's not afraid to say what's on his mind," said Koscheck. "Realistically, I think GSP is a strategist and GSP is probably gonna come in with a good game plan, that's where he can play it safe and get the victory. But, I'd love to see Diaz win because when I beat Carlos Condit February 4, then that means me and Diaz for a title shot, and then that means it's a big fight because he talks really good, and I believe I can talk up a fight really good."
Koscheck is set to meet Condit on the same card that St-Pierre and Diaz square off, UFC 143, which takes place on February 4 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
