Luke Rockhold won the Strikeforce middleweight championship from Ronaldo Souza earlier this year. Now, it seems as if Rockhold might be making his first title defense soon.In an interview with Tatame.com, Rockhold revealed that a fight with Tim Kennedy is in the works. Kennedy is 6-1 in his last seven bouts, with the lone loss coming to Souza.
"I think Tim Kennedy is out there, and from what I've been told, that's probably my next fight," Rockhold said. "Nothing's official, but they told me to get into training camp and get ready."
Strikeforce has yet to announce anything for 2012, but from Rockhold's comments, it would seem as if the promotion will continue putting on cards for the immediate future. The American Kickboxing Academy fighter is 8-1 in his MMA career.
"I also heard that Strikeforce might survive," Rockhold said. "Like I said, nothing's official."
