UFC 139: Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua Vs. Dan Henderson

Round 1: They touch gloves and set up in the middle, both men showing the other respect. It's a measured start, but Hendo cracks Rua early with a right hand. Shogun takes Henderson down, but Hendo gets right back and cranks on him with a mean guillotine. Shogun survives and fights to his feet, where Hendo wails on him with punches. They separate and Shogun, bleeding, continues to take abuse from Henderson. Henderson avoids the takedown attempt by Shogun and gets double underhooks, dumping Rua to the mat effortlessly and walking away. Henderson still showing Rua respect on the feet, taking his time. Shogun moves in again and tries for the takedown, but no dice. He manages to land a good right on the break though. Henderson fires off a straight right with bad intentions. Rua cracks Henderson behind the head with a right hand that buckles his knees. Henderson drops for the takedown and then wallops Rua when he gets back to his feet. Rua looking for the uppercut. Henderson lands a right. Rua pushing forward and putting Henderson on his heels. Both men get in good knees. Shogun leans on Henderson against the cage until the bell.

Round 2: Shogun sticks a jab to start things off. Henderson ducks a punch and tries for a takedown, but it's denied. Rua presses Hendo into the cage and works some short knees. Rua lands a good elbow on the break and Hnederson lands a hard right. Henderson cracks Rua with a hard right and follows up with a good uppercut. Henderson is landing with bone=shattering power, but Shogun is hanging tough and countering. Rua finds his way off the cage and comes back at Henderson, landing some nice punches himself. Rua pushes forward with a volley of punches but doesn't land. He presses Henderson into the cage, but Henderson reverses him and starts to dig in with vicious punches. Henderson leaning on Rua against the fence, to the dismay of the crowd. The ref warns them to work. The ref restarts them, Shogun a bloody mess. Shogun with a nice right that starts off a slug-out between the two.
FightLine scores the round 10-9 for Henderson
Rosenthal calls, "Last round!" To which Henderson holds up three fingers and says, "Three more."
Round 3: They get into it right away, both men digging in and swinging hard. Rua gets in some nice kicks on Hendo as he backs him into the fence with hard punches. Hendo eats a solid punch himself and may be bleeding from the left eye. Hendo gets the takedown briefly. Henderson drops Rua with a brutal right hand and pours it on afterward, hammering Shogun. Shogun is doing his best to survive the onslaught. Shogun recovers and goes for a leg, stalling Hendo's assault. Henderson gets to his feet and so does Shogun, throwing punches. Both men are tired and beaten. Rua is leaning against Henderson on the fence, bleeding something awful. They rest, with Hendo's back on the fence and Rua looking for the takedown. Henderson batters Shogun with elbows but opens himself up for the takedown, where Shogun gets in a series of left hands before Henderson gets to his feet. Shogun lands a few good shots on the break.
