Clay Guida Calls Ben Henderson His Toughest Fight

Getting lost in the build-up to UFC on FOX 1 in November with Cain Velasquez defending his UFC heavyweight title against Junior dos Santos, is a bout pitting Clay Guida vs. Ben Henderson in what could be a No. 1 contender match for the UFC lightweight title.

While the impending arrival of Gilbert Melendez, the current Strikeforce 155-pound champ who has a date with Jorge Masvidal set for December, could cloud up when the winner of Guida-Henderson gets a shot at Frankie Edgar, that isn't stopping "The Carpenter" from focusing all his attention on stopping the former WEC champion.

"Ben Henderson is the next guy in front of me that's keeping me from my title shot," said Guida, in an interview with Tapout Videos. "I'm really looking forward to this challenge. This is going to be my most important fight, my toughest fight."

Guida defeated Anthony Pettis earlier this year to stake his claim to being the top contender at lightweight, while Henderson defeated Jim Miller to put his own name on the list. The UFC decided to match the two up in what is sure to be an action-packed 15 minutes.

"I know Ben is going to be on this top conditioning and his best camp, so that's all we're looking for," Guida said. "We want to fight the best conditioned, best camp he's had and that's going to tell the tale of maybe who's next in line."

It has not been announced how the other fights on the UFC On FOX card will be broadcast, as the special will be just an hour long. The battle between Velasquez and dos Santos is the only fight that will definitely be televised.
