Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has waited a long time to fight Tito Ortiz, as the two were set to meet this past summer. Now, the pair will get the chance to square off at UFC 140.Nogueira's twin brother, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, will fight Frank Mir on the card, along with training partner Lyoto Machida facing off with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
For "Little Nog," this is an important fight, as he is coming off back-to-back losses against Phil Davis and Ryan Bader. He had won seven straight prior to the defeats, including two UFC victories.
"The trainings are great, I'm a lot confident," said Nogueira, in an interview with Tatame.com. "I guess this night will bring us a big day and a knockout. I'll try to put on a good fight because I didn't do my best last time I fought, but this time I'll be much better trained. I know all about the game Tito Ortiz plays, I was suppose to fight him before, so I've been studying his game for almost a year now."
The first scheduled meeting was set to happen in March at UFC Fight Night 24, but Ortiz had to pull out after suffering a cut in training. Nogueira went on to fight Davis, falling by decision. A bout with Rich Franklin was planned for August, but Nogueira had to pass after he injured his shoulder.
The Brazilian contingent of the Nogueira brothers and Machida will have the chance to secure plenty of success on December 10 when all three enter the Air Canada Centre.
"There will be three Brazilians fighting at UFC 140, so I'm asking you to cheer for Brazil, because I believe we'll bring three beautiful wins back home," Nogueira said.
