UFC 136: Melvin Guillard Vs. Joe Lauzon
By Mark Wayne | October 08, 2011
The following is from our live coverage of UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard III. To access our full coverage, The main card's first bout, which takes place in the lightweight division, will be overseen by referee Kerry Hatley.
Round 1: They touch gloves and take to the center, Guillard coming at Lauzon hard and fast. Guillard lands a nice left kick to the body. Guillard is getting a little too excited, opening up too much in his frenetic assault. Lauzon hangs in the pocket and cracks him with a left hook counter that puts him on queer street. Lauzon jumps on him and takes his back, sinking in the rear naked choke and forcing him to tap with a quickness. Great showing by Joe Lauzon tonight.
Joe Lauzon defeated Melvin Guillard via submission (rear naked choke) at :47 of round 1
Lauzon said he was worried about Melvin's stand up, so he worked his own very hard.
