Mighty Mouse Going To Bring It To Dominick Cruz Like Never Before
By Mark Wayne | September 29, 2011
This Saturday night, UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will face off against his latest challenger, Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson, a pint-size powerhouse on a four-fight winning streak determined to unseat The Dominator. Since dropping to 135lbs., Cruz has been unstoppable, running through the division's best to earn and defend the title; in his last defense (his third), the 26-year-old avenged the only loss of his professional career by defeating Urijah "The California Kid" Faber via unanimous decision. Cruz has established himself as the best bantamweight in the world during his title run and Johnson knows that he has his work cut out for him in facing tea champ.
"Dominick is the top dog in the division and he's earned the right to be called champion with his nine-fight winning streak," said Mighty Mouse.
Johnson knows that he'll have to bring something to the table that Cruz hasn't seen yet and he believes he's done the work to do just that.
"I need to be the best Demetrious Johnson possible on Oct. 1," Johnson said. "I think Dominick has gotten used to people standing in front of him, which has allowed him to use his great footwork and dance around people. But on fight night, we're going to dance and I plan on bringing it to him like he hasn't seen before."
Cruz and Johnson will square off at UFC Live 6 this Saturday night at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.. Check back on FightLine that night for our live, ongoing coverage of the event.
