UFC Champion Cain Velasquez Would Fight His Own Teammates

When you are in the wrestling room, you are always competing with teammates to better yourself. You compete in wrestle-offs to secure starting positions, and, there is always that remote chance you get paired up in a tournament.

That's why Velasquez has no problems facing off against a member of American Kickboxing Academy - if it was a title fight.

"We've talked about this," Velasquez said. "We're not going to fight each other [unless] it would come down to No. 1 and No. 2, for the title. If one is the champ and one is coming in to fight for the title, that's the one [situation]."

That is in stark contrast to several other members of AKA, including Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch and Mike Swick, who have all said numerous times they would not face each other inside the Octagon.

Velasquez was asked the teammate vs. teammate question in regards to Daniel Cormier, who is an up-and-coming heavyweight prospect that has followed the same career path as Velasquez.

Velasquez is set to meet Junior dos Santos at UFC on FOX 1 on November 12 for the title.
