Ross Pearson Pondering Drop To Featherweight
By Dana Becker | September 06, 2011
Now, following a split decision loss to Edson Barboza, the Sunderland, England native is considering a drop to the featherweight division.
"Decisions....decision what to do!!!" Pearson wrote on Twitter. "Thinking about testing 145lbs see if I can make it, could be some big fights for me at that weight!!"
Pearson (12-5) went on to write, "I will do a test run and keep u all posted on how I do at making 145lbs need to sit down speak to UFC & coaches see what they think."
"The Real Deal" has only fought at lightweight since making his debut in 2004. He toppled fellow Brit Andre Winner to claim the TUF title and followed up with wins over Aaron Riley and Dennis Siver being being stopped by Cole Miller.
Pearson also posted that he drops only 10 pounds to make 155, so it wouldn't be a huge cut to get down to the 145-pound limit for featherweights. He also said the move has nothing to do with the close loss to Barboza and is just looking to make a move to better his career.
