Tim Kennedy Hunting For The Title, No Matter Who's Holding It

Strikeforce middleweight fighter Tim Kennedy gutted his way to a unanimous decision victory over the hard-hitting Robbie Lawler last night on the main card of Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson, which went down at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

With the victory, the 31-year-old makes it two in a row since fighting and losing to Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza in a fight for the then-vacant middleweight belt. The 31-year-old Army veteran has now taken out Melvin Manhoef and Lawler consecutively and wants to keep building his momentum until he can get back in the cage to fight for the title.

"I'm gonna be working out on Monday. Maybe I'm not gonna be doing anything with my face, but I'll be in the gym," Kennedy told Showtime Sports when asked what his plans for the immediate future are. "I'm gonna get ready for a fight. I'm gonna be very interested in the September 10 fight against Luke Rockhold and Jacare. So, I just gotta get ready to fight."

In speaking with MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani post-fight, Kennedy made it clear that he's coming after the title no matter who's holding it -- but that getting some revenge over Jacare along the way would be a welcomed challenge.

"I want the title. Whoever that is," he said. "I got twenty-five minutes with Jacare. I don't want twenty-five more minutes, I want five more minutes with him. I just want the title."
