Brandon Vera's UFC Contract Reinstated

Though it seemed like it was back to the minors for "The Truth," Silva's recently disputed pre-fight drug test has re-secured Vera's place in the promotion - at least for now. UFC president Dana White confirmed the news with MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani.

"He has (had his contract reinstated). Brandon Vera is back in the UFC now," said White.

Vera showed flashes of brilliance in his fight with Silva - as he has throughout his career - but faltered when overwhelmed by the Brazilian's size and strength. Silva repeatedly dragged Vera to the mat, where he dominated the Norfolk, Virginia native with positioning and damaging strikes. However, it was announced shortly after the fight took place that Silva's pre-fight drug screening had returned questionable results and that he would be tested again, though no details as to his positive test have been given.

"The Truth" commented after the fight that Silva was one of the strongest men he has ever grappled against and said during an appearance on The Ryan Loco Show that he would feel slightly vindicated were Silva to have tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.

"If this thing comes back and you did do whatever you did and I make it back to the UFC, on your welcoming back party, I want to make sure I'm the one you get to fight," Vera said to Silva. "And I promise if you take me down, I'm going to get back up. Then I'm going to punish you on the feet just like I did while we were fighting, until you took me down. Then you gave it to me, but you won't take me down next fight. So I'm glad you got to showboat. I'm glad you got to win, kind of. But I'm gonna see you again soon, bud."
