Bobby Lashley May Face Wes Sims At 'Strikeforce: Miami'
By Raj Giri | January 20, 2010
According to a recent report on MMAJunkie.com, Strikeforce officials have confirmed that Jimmy Ambriz will not be facing Bobby Lashley next Saturday at Strikeforce: Miami, despite the bout being approved by the Florida State Boxing Commission.
"I got a call last night that said I'd definitely be fighting, and [Strikeforce officials] said, 'We want to make sure to have the right opponent for you,'" Lashley told the site on Tuesday night. "I hope everything works out. I hope they find someone and the fight is good."
While Strikeforce officials are hopeful to find a replacement, they noted yesterday that they were "starting from square one" in their search for an opponent for Lashley.
A report on WrestlingINC.com today states that former UFC heavyweight Wes Sims may face Lashley at the event.
Sims recently appeared on The Ultimate Fighter, where he was put to sleep in the first round of his first fight.
The report noted that Strikeforce officials were hoping to get the fight approved by the end of the week. Strikeforce: Miami takes place on January 30th.
