Brazilian Drug Testing Lab Has Credentials Revoked

The only accredited drug testing lab in Brazil is no longer, as the World Anti-Doping Agency announced they have suspended LADETEC’s credentials.

This could come into play later this year, as the UFC is set to host an event in the country with a main event between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson scheduled. Both fighters have previously been granted TRT use through exemptions.

“The revocation will enter into force September 25, 2013 and means that the laboratory – which is currently suspended – will no longer be authorized to carry out the testing of doping control samples on behalf of WADA or any testing authority,” a statement released read. “In the meantime, the suspension remains applicable and LADETEC is therefore ineligible to perform analysis of doping control samples for any testing authority.”

Along with hosting UFC events, the World Cup is set for Brazil next Summer and the Summer Olympics are headed there in 2016.
