Vinny Magalhaes Ends Retirement For Jeff Monson Bout

Vinny Magalhaes planned to retire if the UFC released him for a second time and that??s just what happened. The retirement is short lived, as Magalhaes is set for a heavyweight bout with Jeff Monson at Global Warrior Challenge 2: USA vs. Brazil.

“I never really thought of retiring,” said Magalhaes to MMA Fighting. “I made those comments within 24 hours after I had lost a fight, so I was still a little frustrated, and I was being too emotional with my responses. That’s why I haven’t said a thing since. I needed to clear my mind before starting to speak about my next moves.”

In his second UFC stint, Magalhaes went 1-2 and had a pair of defeats from Phil Davis and Anthony Perosh. He was knocked out by Perosh in 14 seconds at UFC 163 earlier in the month.

The 42-year-old Monson also dropped his previous two fights, making him 49-15.

The show is November 9 from Hawaii.
