Eddie Alvarez hasn’t given details about his new Bellator contract, though reports say the deal is for two fights.
MMA Fighting noted this earlier with Wrestling Observer saying there are special clauses. If Alvarez defeats lightweight champion Michael Chandler at the Bellator 106 PPV, he reportedly receives his instant release from the promotion. He would also be granted one regardless the outcome of a potential rubber match.
Chandler defeated Alvarez for the belt and has dominated the division with ease. Alvarez’s deal ended a nasty eight month legal battle with Bellator.
They’re the co-main event of Bellator 106, which is November 2. It’s from the Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, CA as the promotion dips its toes into PPV waters.
